Vice President Kamala Harris has been given the ironic moniker of "border czar" by Republicans, owing to her previous work overseeing diplomacy. Now, President Biden has given her a significant portfolio by putting her in charge of addressing the growing humanitarian crisis on the US-Mexico border.
Harris has previously introduced policies to support the middle class, such as a $3,000 refundable tax credit for those making $50,000 or less a year. However, her appointment as "border czar" has sparked controversy among some Republicans, who believe she is not qualified for the role.
