A recent CrowdStrike Falcon sensor update is causing significant disruptions for Windows users worldwide, pushing machines into blue screen of death. A pinned message at the top of CrowdStrike’s community forums reads, "We are currently investigating an issue where the CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor may cause BSODs on Windows systems after updating to version 1.9.6.51."
An update to a product from infosec vendor CrowdStrike is bricking computers running Windows. The Register has found numerous accounts of Windows 10 users experiencing Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors following a recent CrowdStrike update.
Users affected by the issue are advised to boot their systems into Safe mode and update Windows with the latest patches through Windows Update. If that fails to resolve the issue, users may need to seek assistance from other sources or restore Windows to a previous state.
