Avalanche Take Too Long To Get Going, Fall 5-3 To Stars
Colorado Shows Flashes Of Brilliance But Can't Sustain It
The Colorado Avalanche, who had won three of their previous four games while allowing just four total goals, put a scare into the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night at Ball Arena. But in the end, the Avalanche could not overcome a slow start falling 5-3 to the Stars.
Slow Start Dooms Avalanche
The Avalanche fell behind 2-0 in the first period and never recovered. They managed to tie the game at 2-2 in the second period on goals by Valeri Nichushkin and Mikko Rantanen, but the Stars scored three unanswered goals in the third period to put the game away.
The Avalanche had a number of chances to win the game, but they could not capitalize on their opportunities. They finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play and were outshot by the Stars 35-27.
The loss was a disappointing one for the Avalanche, who are now 4-3-1 on the season. They will look to rebound on Thursday night when they host the Vegas Golden Knights.
