AS Roma thrash Brighton 4-0 in Europa League
Brighton were outclassed by a clinical Roma side in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Paulo Dybala, Romelu Lukaku, Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante were all on target in a dominant performance from the Italian outfit.
Brighton never really got going in the game and found themselves 2-0 down at half-time. Dybala opened the scoring with a fine strike from the edge of the area, before Lukaku doubled the lead with a powerful header. Mancini made it 3-0 with a well-taken volley on the hour mark, before Cristante added a fourth in the closing stages.
The result leaves Brighton facing an uphill task in the second leg, which takes place next Thursday at the Stadio Olimpico. However, the English side will take heart from the fact that they have beaten Roma twice already this season, in the Champions League group stage.
In other Europa League action, Manchester United beat Real Betis 3-1 at Old Trafford. Anthony Martial, Fred and Bruno Fernandes were on target for the Red Devils, while Borja Iglesias scored a consolation goal for the Spanish side.
